The Elizabeth Granny Square crochet pattern is a delightful project that will bring a touch of vintage charm to your home decor. This intermediate-level pattern is perfect for crafters looking to expand their skills and create a stunning afghan block. The design features intricate granny square motifs that are worked in the round and seamlessly seamed together to form a beautiful square.

I named this square after myself. My middle name is Elizabeth—and so is my daughters! The finished square was giving off Pride & Prejudice vibes, so I was reminded of Elizabeth Bennett.

This square can be made over and over and over again to make an afghan, but it was originally designed to be part of the Granny Stitch Sampler CAL hosted by MadameStitch.

Helpful Notes

  • If you tend to have loose tension when you crochet, you may need to go down a hook size or choose a light worsted weight yarn to make this a 12" square.
  • This 12" square is made by crocheting 4 smaller 6" squares and seaming them together.
  • Two of my squares are worked up by two colors each round. The other two squares are made up of using only a single color.
  • The pattern is available to view for free on the ad-supported Juniper & Oakes website. This ad-free PDF provides a more convenient, annoyance-free way of reading the pattern.
