What You’ll Make
This 12 x 12 inch pillow is created using overlay mosaic crochet in the round, from the center out. It starts with nine miniature squares, which are seamed into a 3 x 3 grid with a back loop only single crochet (BLOsc) join. Then you’ll frame that square with rounds of solid BLOsc. Finally, you’ll join the two panels around a pillow form to complete the pillow.
This patriotic pillow is totally approachable for confident beginners and is a great way to learn overlay mosaic crochet, as well the BLOsc join. The pattern includes helpful photos and videos to help you along.

- This pattern uses overlay mosaic crochet worked in the round from the center out.
- Carry unused yarn under the first BLOsc of each corner, then drop it to the wrong side.
- Work an invisible join after each round.

- If your tension runs loose, try going down a hook size or using a light worsted weight.
